Car palace

A p(a)lace to be

Where cars used to be parked, a district is now being created that is exclusively for people: In the heart of Salzburg, one of the first car garages has been transformed into a lively quarter – without demolition, but with a lot of new openness.

Areas are unsealed and turned into green paths, asphalt becomes mindfulness, concrete becomes encounter. A place where living, working and everyday life flow into one another: a café next to a doctor’s surgery, a yoga studio next to an architect’s office, all next door to each other. And still enough space to breathe.

Things are moving.

The old name “Autopalast” remains – and continues to tell the story of the building. In terms of its appearance, however, the Autopalast has been consistently brought into the present. The car, once the central symbol of the place, is transformed in the branding into a lively living space: open, green, full of possibilities.

Strong illustrations and a self-confident world of color play a central role. They translate the idea of the new quarter into a visual language that makes movement, diversity and community tangible – and gives the Autopalast an identity that conveys joie de vivre and great visions to the outside world.
